Fitness, Weight Loss, Health, its a big numbers game really. But the real numbers that are piling up are the negative numbers. I hate being negative. I'd much rather be positive, so I'll show you the good, the bad, and the down right ugly of the numbers.
Lets get right to it....
Diagnosed and Undiagnosed Diabetes in the United States, All Ages, 2007
Total: 23.6 million people—7.8 percent of the population—have diabetes.
Diagnosed: 17.9 million people
Undiagnosed: 5.7 million people

Body Fat and Lean Tissue...how Much do I have of Each?
I'm 172lbs. I have 15% Body Fat. I have 25.8 lbs of Fat and 146.2 lbs of Lean Tissue.
If I had 30% Body Fat, I would have 51.6 lbs of Fat and 120.4 lbs of lean Tissue.
That Means I burn More Calories at Rest than someone with higher body fat...that's why we all need to add lean tissue to our bodies.
Overweight and Obesity, what are the numbers
According to the Wall Street Journal who broke down the CDC's numbers.
34% of all people over 20 years old is obese.
68% of all people over 20 years old is overweight or obese.
Overweight and Obesity are quickly turning into the number one Epidemic in the United States, resulting in $93 Billion in Medical Costs which is 9% of our total national medical spending!
Imagine if we add in illnesses just due to inactivity and unfit living.
How Can I burn More Calories at Rest?
Adding Lean Tissue (muscle) burns 50 calories for every pound of lean tissue you add.
Add 5 lbs of lean tissue and you're burning 250 calories a day at rest and 1,750 calories per week...that's a half pound you've burned that week at rest. Add in cardio and resistance training, as well as reduced calories, and you're a calorie burning machine!

Be honest about your activity level. Moderate Exercise means working out, not running after kids, or going to work. Its about your level of exercise.

Healthy weight loss is 1 - 2 lbs a week. So you can lose approximately 15lbs in 12 weeks if you eat right, exercise correctly and do your cardio. 12 Weeks....15lbs...hmmmm....
