It's a cold one so far, and snowy! It's postponing many peoples New Years resolutions. Here's something for you that will help you get on track.
First, come to Fitness By the Bay and get a FREE membership just by coming down and signing up. I'm going to get you all moving if it kills me! The FREE membership is my way of introducing up to 5 people to Fitness By the Bay, and giving you a local alternative to getting your New Years Fitness Goals on track. The membership is for 3 days a week till the end of January, with the stipulation that personal training clients take priority on equipment. You can't beat free now can you? $35 for monthly memberships for Jan and Feb.
Call me at 631-419-6379 to get started. This offer is good through this Friday...so take advantage of this unique offer.
Want to stay warm this winter? Exercise with some intensity. Not just a walk...but make it intense. Your body will stay warmer for up to two hours after your workout. Some believe your metabolism stays higher for two hours after your workout, others believe the warmth comes from your body repairing itself after your workout. Either way, it'll keep you warmer, longer.
During these cold and snowy days, we can't seem to keep that chill from getting into our bones. Sitting around makes it even worse.
My clients leave here warmer and ready to take on their day or evening...even during the coldest days. Snow shoveling becomes easier, your warmer, which means your muscles are warmed up and ready to take on that snow with less chance of injury from cold, unconditioned muscles working against heavy repetitive motions.
You'll also reduce the chance of injuries from falls on the ice. Increasing your bone density prevents fractures and breaks, particularly over the age of 40. You'll also reduce the risk of throwing out your back from shoveling. I can attest to not only it's injury prevention but its ability to help use heal faster with less downtime from injuries. After tearing my bicep tendon and going through surgery this past month, I'm actually getting better mobility in my arm, better rotation in my wrist than those I've spoken to who never exercised before they hurt their tendons. There are things I can't or shouldn't do yet, but when I can, I'm certain I'm getting back in my old fighting shape faster than most...thank god I took care of myself all these years.
Exercise is an amazing thing. It helps us in all functional activities. When we exercise our body gets used to using resistance and making our bodies stronger and less likely to be injured, and exhausted. Many of my clients can attest to that. Snow shoveling has become less of a chore, and doesn't exhaust them.
This has been a terrible winter already, and making it difficult to get motivated to get in shape and lose weight like we wanted. But all it takes is one day, one time and you'll see the second time is easier, and in a week or two you'll wonder why you didn't start sooner...it's that first step that is difficult, but if you take that step, you'll be doing something positive and productive for yourself, and you'll be on track in no time.
My clients have been very impressive this years. I know its hard to get in some days, but they do. Training is something they miss if they don't do it. Some say they weren't going to come in, and then they do, and say they're glad they did when they are finished. Exercise is addictive...and so is being sedentary.
Keeping warm, getting fit, starting new, positive habits, and ending bad ones is much easier than you think. I take a very realistic approach to your goals. And you shouldn't start unless you have realistic goals for yourself. But the immediate affects that actually make the colder days more bearable, and less difficult are many.
Be healthy, fit, smaller, stronger, more energetic and WARMER...all you have to do is start.
Come down and get ready to fight those winter blues, cold days and those extra pounds we put on during the holidays. TODAY is your day....
Give a call and make an appointment to come in. Train with a friend and save, or refer someone and get a FREE session. I'm on a mission to combat winter!!! But it's up to you to start!
See you soon.
