We all want to make a great investment right? We don't want to spend money on things we don't need, right? We want our investments to pay off, to make us happy and take us to the next level...of course!
Did you know that being overweight or obese actually costs the average person $2,800 to $3,500 per year just in food? Did you know that the cost of being overweight concerning not only food, but also medical bills, clothing, etc far exceeds what those who weight less pay out each year?
A company that employees 1,000 people can expect to pay out $285,000 per year in sick days used from the result of workers being overweight or obese. On average, overweight or obese workers take one week more of sick time per year than those that aren't.
Medical costs, whether you think so or not, build up over time. You're more susceptible to high blood pressure, strokes, type II diabetes, heart disease, joint problems and replacements, and you'll pay for things like shoe inserts and other items that you wouldn't have to pay for if you weren't overweight.
The weight loss industry is huge...particularly the part of it that sells the quick weight and fat loss supplements. The only people gaining financially from those are the companies that sell them. And guess who once again paid? The people who really want to lose weight...and they're not cheap by any means...and most don't work or have disgusting side effects.
So many people say its expensive to stay healthy. To eat right, to exercise, to get personal training...the fact is, eating right, exercising and getting training will save you money in the short and long term.
Someone came in last week and said he needs to lose weight. We were discussing things like type II diabetes and he said...and I'm not joking here...he said, "I'm not worried about that. I'm a veteran and my medication will be paid for". 8-O Say WHAT?!!
Ask Nabeel...who went from 298lbs in November to 250lbs now. Lost 9% body fat. He came here because he found out he was a type II diabetic...he also was on Lipitor and meds for high triglycerides. This week, the Doctor took him off all of them!! His blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides are all normal. He's on his way to 200lbs...his next goal. But he said its amazing, even with co pays, how much he's saving....and most of all...he can move and jump and run and do things he couldn't do for years. He's rarely out of breath and I think he pushes me harder than I push him some days...lol...but he knows the costs.
Also, the death rate, even if overweight and not obese, is higher.
So, when you think of investing...maybe you should consider investing in yourself! People who are fit also make an average of 7% more per year than those who are unfit. So invest in yourself now, for your future and for your life. The cost that is or that will be coming out of your pocket as well as the health costs can not be ignored. Fast food, restaurants, unhealthy prepackaged foods in your home are all costing you now, and later. Lack of exercise makes even dieting alone, useless. You're not increasing lean tissue and your cardio vascular health which is damaged by being overweight and the poor foods we eat.
Make the change now. 180 Minutes a week and you're on to feeling, looking and being the best you can be.
What will you invest in? Getting fit and slimming down now, or eating poorly, too much and not exercising and paying even more later?
Have a good one everybody, and remember, now's the time to start. Come down and lets get you started. Bring a friend...you'll save and you'll motivate each other...but do it...today.
