Ok, so I've gotten on a tear about the negative effects of NOT working out and losing weight. But, there are so many good things to consider when you do workout, so here's the brighter side, seen from myself, and those who really love getting fit, without sacrificing their entire lives to do it.
It's September, kids going back to school, teachers back into their routines, and you want to get back into your own routine of working out again because maybe those Barbeques were a little much or the drinking put a little weight on you. By the way, how did we get all the way to September already. Did you accomplish or start your fitness goals for this year?
Fitness and weight loss is the way to go...it really is. And the reason you see so many infomercials, magazine articles, television shows and major advertising for products and services is, well, because people want it!
It's for those who want to lose weight...sure. But it's for everyone. No matter what shape your in, you'll always benefit from exercise. You'll feel better, look better, sleep better, work better, play better, parent better, destress better and yes, even love better...but I won't get into that :)
Building a great body isn't just for men, it isn't just for women, it's not just for kids...it's for everyone! I get a wide cross section of people in here and I have to tell you, they all come away with the same things. They look and feel fantastic! I can't tell you how many times my clients say, "I showed ____ my biceps and I can't believe I have muscle like this, or look this good. I never did in my entire life!" It's a common reaction and well deserved one. They worked for it, and never thought they could get it! Good for them! But Remember, you can too.
Have you ever looked at yourself and know you're not in terrible shape...you look thin...but you always want to look better? Ever want to put on muscle, no matter what age or gender? You can!! Everyone can! And you should. You'll feel younger, stronger, and your ego goes through the roof and others notice and compliment you. Being overweight or out of shape, leaves you wanting that...well, for the people I've spoken to anyway. Don't think about that feeling....get that feeling!
You accomplish something great for yourself! It's your time...30 or 60 mins...doesn't matter. It's YOUR time. You destress and do so many other positive things for yourself.
I have weeks where I can't workout for whatever reason...yeah, I have silly excuses too...but that next week I hit the weights or do a little plyometric work and immediately after my workout as I'm wiping the sweat off my face, I think, "Now why did I miss last week?"
I'll be honest. I would love a personal trainer. I get in slumps and get bored with my workouts and get in grooves of repetition, and even though I make sure my clients do different things and work different ways, I don't always do it for myself...it's like the mechanic who works on everyone elses car, and gets to the bare minimum on his own. So I not only train, I love to be trained.
So what are you going to do this month to get yourself on track, get rid of those pounds, and to get your bod in the best shape it's ever been?
Do your weight training, do your cardio, get back into a healthy diet...that's what you're going to do right? Make sure your workouts and cardio have some intensity to them, don't go for a nice lil' stroll, go for a POWER WALK, Wog, or Jog...get that heart rate up!! Now you're burning calories. Pick up those weights and make it count. Hit all your body parts. Put down that donut and pick up an apple!
Ahhhh...September!!
