I was just looking up fitness ideas and exercises when I came across a page about Kim Kardashian. One of her battles is always with cellulite. Many of her photos are touched up, because she does have it, like 85% of the women out there...at varying degrees from light wrinkles to larger amounts cover larger areas.
Cellulite are patches of fat deposits. Many times, women get it from genetics, but that doesn't mean it can't be reduced or eliminated. But how do you get rid of it?
You'll see tons of commercials and ads for creams and massagers that supposedly break up cellulite. Or you'll hear an ad on the radio for liposuction that will get rid of your cellulite. Even if these things did work (which they don't), it will come back.
Slim and heavier individuals get cellulite. Not only is it part of genetics, but it's also due in part to lifestyles, such as if you sit or stand for long periods of time at your job, or you've been wearing the same kind of underwear for years with tight elastic in the affected area...that just seems to make it worse.
So, is there any way to get rid of or reduce cellulite, or to even prevent it?
Yes there is! But like anything else, it's work. No magic pills, massagers, creams or gadgets.
The best way to prevent, reduce or get rid of those nasty patches of fat deposits is to exercise, targeting those areas, and to reduce carbohydrates and fatty foods. Diet and lack of proper exercise are the main causes of cellulite. If you are predispositioned to having cellulite, you're not going to like the outcome if you're diet and exercise plans are non existent.
Resistance training reduces body fat and adds lean tissue. Cardio burns calories. Diet reduces further additions to the problem.
You definitely want to do some resistance training on those areas. People such as Kim Kardiashian work out on average 3 days a week, and on some occasions 4-5 days a week. Her diet isn't spot on, but hey, who's is? But she watches portions and high caloric meals and makes sure she adds extra protein to her diet.
Squats, lunges, adductor and abductor exercises are the best. Its not just a matter of doing them, but doing them with enough weight as to break down and build your muscle, adding additional lean tissue and burning additional fat.
So you know, there is not such thing as TARGET REDUCING. When you workout, you burn fat over your entire body. But you can target areas for the best possible outcome and to show the best muscle...and reduce or get rid of that cellulite.
I had a client that said after three months, she walked past her mirror one day and noticed the cellulite that she hated so much on the sides of her thighs was virtually gone!! Between all the other benefits of working out, this was just one more great benefit!!!
I never recommend anyone to exercise just for this reason. Why? Because there are so many more reasons to do it! Cellulite reduction is just one more benefit that people get from a regular fitness and workout regiment.
